Hudson Valley Sustainable Fashion Week 2025
THE ASK
The Hudson Valley Sustainable Fashion Week board approached Atelier Oluwatosin to conceptualize, design, and produce the site experience for its flagship Organic Runway show: a sunset fashion event amplifying local sustainable designers. The non-profit sought an installation and spatial plan that would link the runway to the landscape while embodying the values of circularity and community participation.
THE RESPONSE
We developed The Discarded Body, an interactive installation that visualized the volume of textile waste an average person generates in a year. Garments were rescued from donation surpluses, then folded and compressed into sculptural seating cubes. These were arranged on-site to lead guests to the runway, and offer moments of rest — anchoring the event’s narrative in both scale and touch.
In addition to the installation, we created the branding for the 2025 show, which was used across digital invitations, social media, and promotional assets. On the ground, we oversaw volunteer fabrication teams and led the installation of key sculptural and signage elements — ensuring visual cohesion while responding sensitively to the farm’s natural setting.
IMPACT
Engaged a team of 12+ community volunteers to fabricate sculptural seating cubes over a one-week pre-production sprint.
Directed and installed a site-specific art intervention that guided over 500 attendees into the runway field while doubling as rest zones and viewing points.
Activated the installation process as a participatory learning experience, introducing volunteers to circular design principles and the material weight of textile waste.
Delivered branded visual assets for the 2025 show, extending across digital invitations, event signage, and the organization’s social media storytelling.
Provided on-site leadership for volunteer coordination and environmental staging, ensuring the successful day-of execution of the installation across an active orchard venue.
