Elsewhere

THE ASK

Elsewhere emerged as an evolution of an interior designer's practice — a move from designing homes for others toward creating a portfolio of immersive, design-led stays. The ambition was clear, but the brand was not yet formed.

The challenge was to build a hospitality brand that could hold emotional depth without becoming abstract, and operate as a scalable business without losing intimacy. It needed to unify architecture, interiors, and guest experience into a single, legible system that could support direct bookings, future properties, and long-term growth.

Beyond identity, the work required clarity of position: differentiating Elsewhere from both traditional short-term rentals and conventional boutique hotels, while establishing a cohesive relationship to Kristen’s existing design practice.

THE RESPONSE

We developed Elsewhere as a brand grounded in atmosphere, where design is not presented as an object, but as a lived experience. The strategy positioned Elsewhere at the intersection of hospitality and spatial storytelling: a collection of homes shaped by intuition, craft, and care. From this foundation, we built a complete brand system that could translate feeling into form across every touchpoint.

The visual identity balances restraint and warmth. A custom wordmark and flexible submark system allow the brand to move fluidly across scales and mediums while maintaining clarity and quiet presence. The palette and typography draw on natural materials and a soft tonal palette, reinforcing a sense of calm, permanence, and ease.

We defined a distinct verbal identity and naming system that is measured, evocative, and unforced. Language became a core design tool, shaping how guests encounter the brand before they arrive and how they remember it after they leave. Beyond identity, we structured the digital ecosystem to support direct engagement and long-term independence from third-party platforms. The website was designed as both a booking interface and a narrative space, allowing each property to function as an extension of the brand while contributing to a cohesive whole.

The result is a system that holds both intimacy and scale: precise enough to guide execution, open enough to evolve as Elsewhere grows into a multi-property hospitality platform.

IMPACT

Established Elsewhere as a distinct, design-led hospitality brand, supporting a strategic shift toward direct booking and long-term brand equity over platform dependency.

Contributed to early audience growth and visibility, including a doubling of Instagram following within the first 30 days of activation, alongside a growing pipeline of inbound inquiries.

Built the foundation for sustained demand through a centralized digital platform and a structured content ecosystem, with over 200+ planned marketing assets supporting ongoing storytelling and conversion.

Attracted early interest from high-profile, design-conscious audiences, signalling cultural relevance beyond the traditional short-term rental market.

Positioned Elsewhere for expansion across multiple properties and markets, with new locations already in development and a scalable system in place to support growth.
