THE ASK
Develop a comprehensive brand identity for Altitude, a refined wine bar and listening lounge inspired by the golden age of travel. Altitude’s visual and experiential design needed to reflect its role as a community hub for Arlington, Virginia, blending vintage charm with modern sophistication to create a warm and memorable atmosphere for its guests.
THE RESPONSE
To bring Altitude’s vision to life, we created a brand identity that seamlessly blends the nostalgia of vintage aviation with the sophistication of modern hospitality. The colour palette, featuring rich wine red, burnt orange, warm beige, and sea green, captures warmth and elegance, while golden yellow foiling adds a luxurious touch. Typography choices, including a modern serif, clean sans serif, and dramatic script balance refinement with approachability, ensuring consistency across print and digital applications.
The guest experience was elevated through thoughtfully designed touchpoints such as embossed gold-foil menus, hand-embroidered linen napkins, and a wine menu inspired by the elevation climb of an airplane. These elements immerse guests in Altitude’s aviation-inspired narrative while reinforcing its timeless aesthetic. Collateral like a wine-tasting passport and custom-illustrated playing cards further emphasize exploration and connection, aligning with the brand’s values. Altitude’s voice was crafted to be sophisticated yet approachable, fostering a sense of adventure and warmth while emphasizing sustainability and community. Through these efforts, Altitude invites guests on a taste, sound, and discovery journey, creating a unique and memorable space in Arlington.

Successfully led a collaborative process involving multiple stakeholders, including the REIT client, hospitality operator, and a cross-disciplinary design team, ensuring alignment of diverse visions.
Delivered a cohesive and distinctive brand identity for Altitude that integrates seamlessly into the wider Arlington, VA, National Landing neighbourhood development.
Balanced Altitude’s individuality with the broader branding and marketing strategy of National Landing, creating harmony within a mixed-use urban environment. Enhanced the neighbourhood’s appeal by positioning Altitude as a cornerstone hospitality brand that supports the area’s dining, living, and working experiences.
