Labels

We're sharing a project from our archives because its message is currently at the forefront of so many’s minds.

We created this campaign, “Labels,” in 2016 to draw awareness to the harmful effects of stereotyping based on skin colour. Stamping the visual minorities photographed with nutrition labels was a design decision made to highlight the dehumanization ingrained in racism. The campaign was created in response to the issues that were and are occurring in the USA as a result of discrimination and prejudice. Although super problematic in the USA especially, these hateful ideologies are embedded in minds worldwide.

Let yourself be uncomfortable as you take in these visuals. We have a dream that this project will soon become irrelevant and inaccurate.
